The roof of the Thorpe Park Academy was over 50 years old and showed signs of ageing. Watershed Roofing worked with Venn Academy to create a solution to meet the needs of the building.
The Specification required improved insulation, removal and replacement of glazing panels, and specialist asbestos removal. It was also vital that the project was completed without disrupting teaching and daily routine at the school.
“We have been helping Schools and Academies win condition improvement funds and overseeing works for over 20 years. We use BMI Icopal products because they provide a robust solution to waterproofing challenges, both in their site surveys and initial specifications and also the technical support on-site, by way of regular site visits and issuing of site reports that ensures the project is installed as per specification. The guarantees underpin the whole process and products provided.”

These complex roof shapes demanded considerable skill from the Watershed operatives and each roof area required great skill and attention to detail by operatives.
The Watershed team demonstrated excellent craftsmanship and high levels of workmanship, particularly throughout the complex detailing.
Working on a live site with nearly 600 pupils presented Watershed Roofing with a familiar challenge. The project and its various stages were discussed with the school and the academy trust and the school was consulted each week on what was planned.
School staff were consulted each day to ensure that the schedule of works was designed with absolute minimum disruption to the school day. Even the delivery and collection of materials and waste was scheduled for before and after school hours.
