Held as part of BMI’s commitment to adding value for members of the IMA, the event showcased how the scheme continues to promote quality workmanship, product compliance and commercial opportunity across flat roofing.
This year’s AGM also tackled one of the industry’s most pressing topics: the Building Safety Act (BSA). With confusion still widespread around contractor responsibilities under the new legislation, BMI used the event to host a dedicated Q&A session with its technical leads. Regional seminars, to follow later in the year, were also announced.
Simon Ashworth, IMA Chairman and Portfolio Manager for Flat Roofing at BMI Icopal, said:
“IMA members are asking more questions about compliance, certification and the BSA than ever before. The legislation brings important improvements. But it also brings a lot of grey areas. We want to be the team that helps clear those up.
“Being an IMA member means being part of something bigger. You get technical support on site. You get exclusive access to product launches and business opportunities. That’s a level of support and advantage you won’t find anywhere else.”
As well as product updates, the event also recognised standout contractor projects through the IMA Awards. Here are 2025’s winners:

About BMI UK & Ireland
BMI is the UK and Ireland’s only roofing systems provider and manufacturer of both flat and pitched roofing. It is backed up by 180 years’ experience in the industry, bringing together Redland and Icopal and their expertise in the specification, manufacture and supply of pitched and flat roofing solutions.
BMI believes a roof is far more than just a collection of products protecting a building. It protects people, businesses, lifestyles and whole communities. It can be turned into an additional living space, a playground, a garden or even a source of renewable energy.
To support future roofers, the BMI Academy in Gloucestershire delivers training to architects, contractors, housebuilders, merchants, local authorities and housing associations for both pitched and flat roofing. It also hosts the annual BMI Apprentice of the Year Awards, a competition where roofing apprentices show off their potential and meet industry experts, as well as win the cash prize and training opportunities.
