On July 23rd and 24th, 2025, as the BMI Apprentice of the Year competition unfolded, 19 of the nation's most promising young talents headed down to the BMI Academy ready to lay down their best work and show off their roofing skills.
The BMI Apprentice of the Year competition shines a spotlight on the very best talent emerging within the trade, while showcasing the immense efforts of the employers and training colleges who nurture them. Through a series of demanding tasks, each expertly judged by a panel of seasoned roofing veterans from various backgrounds, the apprentices demonstrated their unwavering passion and understanding of the craft.
BMI is committed to giving apprenticeships and everyone who makes them a success the recognition they deserve. It's about inspiring new generations to embrace a rewarding career in roofing, securing the future of roofing with a skilled workforce.
And for the winners? They walked away with the prestigious title of BMI Apprentice of the Year, a £1,000 cash prize and an incredible three years of complimentary access to advanced training courses through the BMI Academy.
The standard of skill, ambition and passion on display at BMI Apprentice of the Year 2025 was impressive. The high calibre of apprentices taking part is a testament to both their commitment but also the support of their employers and training providers.
Anthony Hogan, Technical Manager at SPR and BMI AOTY 2025 Judge, said: “The BMI Apprentice of the Year event is one of the most rewarding on the calendar – as much for the judges as it is for the apprentices. Congratulations to the winners and finalists for their proud achievements."
