The Challenge

The Challenge

The works involved removing the existing roof covering, including the fibreboard sarking and all the lead, which took the roof down to the bare rafters. The roof had to remain functional, and it was of the utmost importance that there was no water ingress during this period. Macleod Roofing took to the task and worked tirelessly throughout to ensure the roof was watertight at all times.

To add to the complexity, pupils were also at school at the time of work but every effort was made to limit any disruption while providing maximum safety for pupils, staff and visitors

The Solution

The Solution

With only six weeks to carry out the work Macleod chose BMI Redland Mini Stonewold as the preferred tile due to its availability and quick lead-time from the manufacturer. In addition, the contractor liked its ability to be installed quickly and efficiently thanks to its interlocking design.

The speed of installation was further enhanced by the use of the award-winning Innofix Clip, which requires no tools when securing the tile. The use of the Innofix clip helped keep noise and disturbances to a minimum, thereby maintaining as good a teaching environment as possible and allowing the school to carry on as normal.

The Impact

The Impact

The re-roofing of Pilmuir Primary School is a textbook example of the contractor utilising good product availability and the “no tool” characteristics of the Innofix Clip, together with the entire BMI Redland dry fix system, to carry out a swift, safe and non-disruptive installation. Because the roof was rebuilt with the support of BMI’s SpecMaster specification service, it is covered by a 15-year roof system guarantee.

The BMI Redland Mini Stonewold tile provided an aesthetically pleasing finish and will provide a secure, weatherproof roof for years to come.
