The Challenge

The Challenge

Previous failures including power cuts had caused massive disruption to the traffic on both carriageways and a rethink of how essential services could be delivered to the tunnel, this saw the demolition and reconfiguration of central risers, extracts and tunnel services.

Each of the three flat roofs posed their own challenges but common amongst them was the need to address the complexities posed by the upstands, vents and hatches that are typical features of a plant room. Making these waterproofs involved highly detailed and intricate work on both the vertical and horizontal plane.

The roofs also featured very slim gullies and any works had to make sure that the narrow apertures of the gullies were not closed up or blocked by extraneous material. Overflows were deemed necessary and installed to each roof.

The Solution

The Solution

The three roofs were stripped back to the concrete deck and prepared for the installation of a new warm roof system. Once the primer had been applied to the deck, a vapour control layer was installed and overlaid with insulation and the Pyrobar carrier membrane.

The full BMI Sealoflex Prima System was then employed to produce a quality outcome. At all stages the Itech Roofworks team followed the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure a seamless install and flaw-free finish. The project required  diligent, methodical and careful work to ensure that the highest quality of installation was achieved. As a result of such outstanding  workmanship we provided the contractor with an extended guarantee of up to  25-year’s, such was our confidence in the project.

The Impact

The Impact

In order for all three roofs to be guaranteed, our technical specification team regularly checked on the workmanship and reviewed the final installations. To make sure that workmanship met the highest standards, a quality manager wrote daily reports, and inspected all aspects of the installation. Each phase of the project was delivered on time and on budget.
